(Utah Annotated Traffic Code Title 41 Chapter 6a Part 4)
A reportable motor vehicle accident is one that includes all of the following:
- A motor vehicle,
- Injury or death to a person or total property damage to an apparent extent
of $2500 or more, and - Occurred or originated on a highway or quasi-public road or parking area
Definitions
(1) Motor Vehicle: A motor vehicle is any motorized (mechanically or electrically
powered) road vehicle not operated on rails.
(2) Injury: bodily harm to a person
(3)Damage: harm to property that reduces the monetary value of that property
(4) Highway: the entire width between property lines of every way or place of any nature
when any part of it is open to the use of the public as a matter of right for vehicular travel
(5)Quasi-public road or parking area: a privately owned and maintained road or
parking area that is generally held open for use of the public for purposes of vehicular travel
or parking
